Big Government Hates Job Creation
Tue, Jan 26, 2010
As the President struggles to fix America (as if it were broken) the country is becoming more and more frustrated with the lack of progress on job creation. During his State of the Union address tomorrow night, President Obama is likely to discuss ways to “ease the burden” of the middle class. None of his suggestions will involve getting people back to work.
As one might expect from this administration, President Obama’s plan for the middle class is more governmental dependency and regulation. According to the AP, his ideas include doubling the child care tax credit for families making less than $85,000, cap college loan repayments, require employers to offer IRA benefits, and spend $100 million on in-home elderly care. All of these items are popular but none of them work toward the long term solution of allowing people to make it on their own.
Consider that if Middle Class America enjoys a sub 4% unemployment rate fewer people will need tax “favors” from Washington. One’s liberty stems from one’s ability to provide for themselves. A job is a gateway to independence. When the United States is suffering from 10%+ unemployment, the people become dependent on the party most likely to “give” the most from the public treasury. Socialism becomes a more viable option for those in need as they are willing to trade their liberties for comfort or, if necessary, survival. Today’s administration and the leftist Congress have made it clear that they believe in the growing power of Government and the introduction of Big Brother programs. If America goes back to work, any hope the far left has of controlling the middle class could evaporate. Don’t expect any wild ideas of job creation to come any time soon.
